Informa Markets is Redefining What It Means to Be Age-Inclusive with Age Inclusive Accreditation

13 September 2023 (London, UK) Informa Markets, the world’s leading exhibitions organiser, is actively promoting age inclusivity in the workplace as part of its wider Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy, by gaining an Age Accreditation in partnership with 55/Redefined, which helps companies to attract, grow and engage over 50s talent.

Informa Markets has a workforce of over 4,000 colleagues, located across 30+ countries and who span five generations. Mike Sealy, VP of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for Informa Markets, explains: “In this competitive landscape, creating an inclusive environment where colleagues can thrive is essential to attract and retain top talent. At Informa Markets, we recognise that one of the keys to success is harnessing the unique perspectives and experiences of colleagues from all age groups.

“Age diversity is not about putting up with each other’s differences, it’s about embracing them and learning from them. Our partnership with 55/Redefined will help us to promote age inclusivity by fostering cross-generational collaboration, leading to a more inclusive and respectful workplace.”

Age Inclusive Accredited Employer

Informa Markets has achieved the Age Inclusive Accreditation, meaning it plays a leading role in changing attitudes for the better and challenging age discrimination. In order to achieve accreditation, the company had to commit to the following actions:

·       Ensuring recruitment practices are inclusive and accessible to workers over 50

·       Communicating and promoting vacancies fairly

·       Reviewing HR handbooks and policies relating to retirement

·       Investing in technical training and reskilling of colleagues aged over 50

Creating An Inclusive Workplace for All

Mike adds: “We understand that age inclusivity is not limited to a specific age group and in addition to this age inclusivity accreditation, we are committed to supporting colleagues of all ages throughout their career journey.”

2023 has already seen Informa Markets ramp up the focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. Earlier this year, the company hosted IMX Live: All In, a day-long all-colleague event, aimed to help colleagues reflect, inspire and celebrate diversity and inclusion at work.

During the event, Mike Sealy, VP of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for Informa Markets, announced the reinvigoration of the Informa Markets Colleague Run Networks, the launch of a high school community outreach programme, Diversity Bridge, as well as the establishment of organisational DE&I priorities and commitments.

Informa Markets is addressing one of the key priorities announced – to play a leading role in changing attitudes and challenging age discrimination – head on, as the partnership with 55/Redefined will encourage inclusivity in recruitment, training and mobility.
